Fern is a nomad. She's without a regular job, works short shifts where she travels. There's a whole community of like-minded people. It's a lifestyle of freedom, but it's also rather hard and lonesome. Free from bureaucracy and normal society, you've all the time in the world to think about death, life and universe, the bad choices you've made and the dreams never completed.
Nomadland is a slow-moving drama, a heartfelt piece, but can't grasp why it's an Oscar winner though. Must have been a bad year.
