Contracted AIDS from African prostitute

Awesome. Brainstormed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, starred by Warwick Davis and bunch of super stars. For instance Liam Neeson’s appearance on the first episode is a dead-on classic already.

Water of life

You don't see too many whiskey movies these days, Isle of Islay even less so. As soon as I finished watching this I had no choice but spent the rest of the night with 16 years old Lagavulin and 10 years old Tobermory. And Scottish beer. Thankfully I had some in stock. I even started reading a whiskey book thanks to this movie.

Always strive to elevate your craft

He's a tough symphatic cook, Jiro. Never misses a work day - apart from funerals - and he has mastered his craft for something like thousand years. Gotta try myself some sushi one day, a tunaless one though because I hate people massacring the species to death.

Choose between life and fiction

Quite good. In fact, would have been remarkably good without Bradley Cooper, he ain't disgustingly bad, but still.

The script reads me

Everything was ten times less funnier than it was the first time. I believe I didn't even laugh, not once. Lukewarm semi-entertaining crap.

For our dead were beyond the count of grief

A really long story with dwarves, orcs, witches, wizards, gandalfs, elves and all sorts of bonebreakers. Pretty cool, but it still left me disappointed when I realized this was just the first movie of the trilogy. You know, I'm not a super fan, I don't follow what's going on in the fantasy camp.

As in rockstar parking

I reckon, I haven't gaggled this much at mindless violence since Clockwork Orange. Or I don't know. I do not remember. Anyways, excellent fun and Joel Murray and Bara Lynne Barr were both fucking fantastic.

It's the quiet places where all the mad shit happens

To fight extraterrestrials the Irish way, you drink yourself senseless. Makes sense to me.

Monkey on my back

A book of one of Finland's prisons, Nokka. It's now shut down and someone thought it deserves a story even though there's no story to speak of. Most of the prisoners were there for the pretrial period, so it has had a its share of famous criminals, but only for a short period of time. Guards and few prisoners share their sugar coated tough guy shit.

World is cold

Fucklots of your typical thriller, they made millions just like this in the early Nineties. I'm sure they thought of making a tad more mysterious and secretive shit, but obviously thought wrong.

Protecting and rejecting

It started out as a decent Clint Eastwood movie, but then Justin Timberlake appeared out of nowhere and began fucking people in the ass. On a more serious note, I'm afraid Clint Eastwood's role as a crumpy old man in drama series has run its course and I think he should be doing more funkier roles.

Bueno moon

This was cuckoo. But kind of right kind of cuckoo. I'm not a sucker of this genre, but maybe this heat is making me absolutely crazy. Anyways, Susanne Bier seems to be doing everything right, probably any other director would have made miserable shite of this story.

Life does nothing

French cops and gangsters busy hacking each other to pieces. The story zigzags between two periods of time, the style I'm not too fond of, but otherwise decent Mafia stuff by the book w/ executions, torture, snitches and lavish living.

Shaking frenzy

The novel was infantile and not very well written. This is heaps better, but it ain't really but boring delirium tremens at best.

The devil will hear you

Totally indifferent to me. I didn't care one way or the other where the story went or what happened to the characters since the story was retarded to begin with, the actors were faceless fucks and all that. But at least Kate Mara is cute.

Eclectic pop for whiners

A documentary of bunch of Reykjavik bands playing at someone's backyard. A nice idea and I like the homegrown style of everything, but unfortunately the bands' (all seven of them) shoe-gazing hipster shit is garbage.

Power over will

Carl Hamilton (created by Jan Guillou) is a Swedish James Bond who doesn't fuck about and it's been cool shit until now. The novels and the movies (performed by Mikael Persbrandt, Peter Stormare, Stefan Sauk, Stellan Skarsgård and Peter Haber) have been cool and interesting, but this one is the all-time low. Amazingly stupid, poorly acted and fucking shite.

After the long summer, darkness will fall heavy on the world. The stars will bleed.

These were all new episodes for me, but I watched 'em in the course of two days, I believe. It is a great series. I'm not a super-fan, I am just properly entertained.

Horror and despair

I reckon, Don DeLillo's Cosmopolis is the best novel I've ever read. I quite like David Cronenberg too, he's a cool and controversial cat. But I don't like Robert Pattinson for the sole reason that he can't act and it was unbearable to watch his suffering with these wonderful words and lines. I'm sure the emotionless Mr. Pattinson resited the lines from teleprompter thus looked like a newsreader.

One of them's bending over, two of them are kissing

I started reading Extras: The Illustrated Scripts -book and it compelled me to watch the series as well. Once again, I might add. Started with the first season and for instance the Patrick Stewart scene where he reveals his idea for a movie is probably the best comedy ever delivered anywhere.

Of someone else's dream

A paper-thin sadistic freak living in the European forests is all Mengele on mountaineers, backpackers and half-wit hunters. Amateur Euro trash torture horror in painfully long 77 minutes.

In victory and defeat

Took it from the library even if I had seen it already. Watched it in two days, so I guess it's pretty cool.

Knee deep in blood and thunder

The show on hiatus, this fed the thirst. One of the regulars got his head literally bashed in, so they probably follow suit on the show as well, or they don't.

Tuesday, May 14, 2013

Waste of good Scotch

Darker and bloodier, with strange loopholes but without the trademark idiocies, this one looked like a proper film.

There is a traitor in this room

It's dated, that's for a fact. I don't care that it got plenty of Oscar nominations and it has cool stars. Those actors didn't perform particularly well, I might add. And the action was clumsy. Aaaaand it was a boring, way too long fucker.

Like smoke through a keyhole

Wasn't as heartfelt and nice as I remembered. Watched it again solely because I contemplated of selling the DVD at a flea market. There it goes.

May cause sexual nightmares

Easily, the funniest of the contemporary sitcoms. There are numerous jokes in each episode and they are delivered amazingly - and they come to you so often and so suddenly that you almost forget to laugh, you just think to yourself how can they be so amazingly good and clever.

Death didn't do what death can

It wasn't fucking bad. I had seen this earlier and remembered some parts. For instance the aircrash bit and all the bizarre deaths were pretty funky.

Tuesday, May 07, 2013

Mayor Grundy barfed on his wife's tits

Well, goddamn. It was even better than I remembered. What is it, something like 30 years since its release and it doesn't look a day old.

Last days of immolation

Everyone just have to see this one. Wow. They used millions of dollars and came out with this? Probably tried to come up with a shortcut to Shutter Island, but got lost.

Sunday, May 05, 2013

The best bad idea

Technically, I think, this was fucking fantastic. I often criticize the Oscar winners, but they'll get the credit this time. The story was a bit biased, I presume, and it lacked some cool shit, but job decent done.

It's a horny world

Engagingly directed serial killer movie the first half and boring drivel the second. George Kennedy and Henry Ford as no-nonsense cops and Tony Curtis miscast as the Strangler.

Sunday, April 28, 2013

Squeeze my lizard

It was on TV right after Ace of Spades -classic album documentary, so I stuck watching it. Again. Cool.

Neither the beginning nor the end

Neil Marshall makes quite splendid movies, but there are always a tad too eccentric characters (female ones, in particular) running around and the action is kind of excessive with fucken weird & wild turn of events.

Ranch chips and golf

Eh. You caught me red-handed.

Have a safe trip, you little bastards

This time even less so I didn't mind that the film was stupid, in the amazingly stupid magnitude, the true Emmerich style. I had a cool time, I was entertained, the stars were aligned I guess.

Can you hear the thunder?

I liked this even more than its contemporaries, more than all the other TV series I've been following recently. Be it Boardwalk Empire, The Walking Dead, Treme, Homeland, True Blood or Game of Fucking Thrones, Luck outshines them all. Great music to boot.

No recipe for living

I have seen too many Finnish movies lately and I'm getting fed up. That's how it goes sometimes and it ain't this movie's fault. Well, who am I kidding, of course it is. What they've done is fucking shit, I have every right to leave it at just fucking that.

There is no death

And I thought everything was said and done in the walking dead industry. Here the living dead get the kick out of being vigilante gunslingers. Wasn't that fucken hilarious.

Doomed to be on this earth

There were innuendos and accusations of Olof Palme's (the prime minister of Sweden until his assassination in 1986) inner circle profiteering and other things as well, but be at is may, he still is the most intelligent and well-meaning politician ever lived.

Night of the monkeys

The first fifteen minutes were great. Small town football supporters talk the sport and behave like proper hooligans. The rest is shit. Like often, bad story telling has been disguised with characters getting drunk and talking dirty. It could be fun and wild if it was done accordingly, but not here it ain't.

It takes two

The latest movie of Finnish detective series where even the subplots are ridden with subplots. Cool pulp should be ridden with filth and violence, and nothing else. This whole fucking thing has been quite fucking embarrassing.

Hands tied and head sacked

Most times these time travel mindfucks fail by too religiously trying to explain the unexplained. Looper didn't fuck around with the loopholes too much and they - albeit weird sidestorish superhero thang - came up with a quite a splendid result.

Saturday, April 20, 2013

Curtains drawn

Estonian psycho-bitch loses her marbles and everything is quite unfunny. And the movie is frustratingly tiresome, I might add.

Friday, April 19, 2013

Psychotic black dwarf with an afro

This one spawned a few dozen followers and straight-on rip-offs, but none remain as bold and cool as the Guy Ritchie original.

Thursday, April 18, 2013

Didn't pan out

It was my second or third time I watched this and it ain't Coens' best (The Big Lebowski, always) and it's nowhere near their worst (Intolerable Cruelty), but it's an entertaining fucker and it's quite near perfect.

Cooper was a nazi

Not bad, but it ends there. Actually one of the best Finnish movies for a long time. But, sadly, that tells hardly fucken all. It's very much watchable, but lots immemorable too.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story

Things are happening in mafialand and they are depicted by elegance and emotion. Really quite an enormous show, the characters aren't developed so profoundly as they were in The Sopranos, but I'm sure things will perk up.

Thursday, April 11, 2013

Plenty of tramps in town

I'm not too familiar with these and they don't come around too often. But one of the most exciting shits I have seen for a long time.

Once in a lifetime alone

Film critics don't like these. Or they won't admit that they do. The general public doesn't necessarily like them either, but ...
